The Charlie
Pineapple
If there is any story that captures what we're about, it's the story of the pineapple - a story that goes waaaaay back.
Pineapples weren't native to the Western world and were considered extremely rare, so seafarers in the 16th century would often travel home via the Caribbean in order to gather the exotic fruit for their return.
Once home they would spike a pineapple on their fence as a notice they had returned safely, but more importantly: the spiked fruit was an open invitation to all their neighbours to come in, share a meal, and exchange stories. Over time, the pineapple has become a symbol of hospitality and warm welcome - something we value dearly here at The Charlie.
So next time you’re walking by and you see the pineapple out front, come on in. Make yourself at home.
